About the project
In early 2018 a small group of local residents came together to investigate the feasibility of bringing superfast fixed wireless broadband to Strathnairn to fill a growing gap in the local infrastructure. Several months and a lot of hard work later, Strathnairn Community Benefit Fund has awarded a grant to Scotnet to facilitate the extension of their infrastructure into this area.
This is an exciting project which will transform the lives of people throughout the Strathnairn community, allowing residents and businesses the kind of connectivity and access to services that so many others already take for granted. The new network will be capable of providing speeds of up to 30 Mbps for an affordable monthly cost to more than 99% of properties in Strathnairn.
Work has now begun on the ground and all being well we expect the first data to start flowing in late January 2019. Sincere thanks are due to all the landowners who are facilitating access for cable routes and infrastructure. Thanks are also due to the Strathnairn Community Benefit Fund and the members of the community who have worked very hard to make this happen.
